Yellow Zone
Our Yellow Zone is home to our Pre-Schoolers, our oldest Children
And finally, we reach our Yellow Area, where our oldest children — aged 3 to 4 — begin preparing for the exciting transition to school.
In this space, everything we do is designed to support school readiness. We continue to build on early learning foundations, with a strong focus on mathematical thinking and phonics.
Children don’t just count — they start to understand the value of numbers, compare quantities, and subitise. These skills lay the groundwork for confident, capable learners.
In phonics, children learn to listen for and differentiate between sounds, and begin to match them to letters. One of their favourite ways to do this is through fun, interactive activities like ‘Silly Soup,’ where they explore sounds and early word-building through play.
In the Yellow Area, we also support children to become the most independent version of themselves — whether they’re serving their own snacks, choosing activities, or managing their belongings.
They explore 3D arts and crafts, develop confidence through independent and cooperative play, and enjoy a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books, sparking imagination and curiosity.
As they near the end of their preschool journey, we gently introduce routines and expectations similar to those they’ll experience in Reception. This includes listening during group time, following simple instructions, and building social skills that help them thrive in a classroom environment.
By the time they leave the Yellow Area, our children are confident, curious, and ready for school — emotionally, socially, and academically. We're incredibly proud to be part of this important chapter in their lives.
Craft Area
Children are encouraged independently to choose from the variety of craft resources and box craft. At the beginning they can refer to the picture on the containers, but very soon they learn where they can find what they want to use for their masterpiece. Children are encouraged to make 3D models, create 3D art, using bottle lids, pine cones, cardboard cylinders or recycling yoghurt containers. At the same time, variety of mark making resources on our craft trolley, encourage children to develop their writing skills (markers and white boards with letters, attractive felt pens in flower shape and different notepads).
Art gallery display of famous paintings, inspires children to create their own art pieces. Learning about famous artist like Claude Monet, promoted children’s collaboration In creating the famous Water lilies. We also learned with children about different art resources like oil pastels mixed with water and watercolours.

Hygiene and self-care
To promote hygiene and self-care we use our toothbrush bus and video and pictorial displays, which teach children how to brush teeth, discussing why it is important to brush teeth twice a day and look at what happens if our teeth are not brushed. This is a very popular activity and we brush our teeth every day in the morning.

Emotional wellbeing
We discuss with children how we can have different emotions, we learn to express those emotions, using mirrors and Lego men emotions display, which helps children to understand them better. We use personalised timetables and individual choosing boards to help children understand the routine of the day, if they require our support. We promote children's cooperation and collaboration in creating posters, like for example our welcoming poster in different languages, to ease the transitions for children from different ethnic backgrounds and welcome them into our community

Area for specific activities
In this area Children have an opportunity to practise their skills by doing the specific activity after it has been introduced by an adult, like for example learning about the weight with scales and small objects, learning about time with different lengths timers or learning literacy by using gel tactile letters in tray with sand or foam. There is also a water station here, to encourage children self-serving and pouring themselves a drink, when they are thirsty.

Wider learning
In this area children learn about the wider world around them, like for example how to feed the birds in our church garden, or different fruit trees, fruit bush and vegetables, which are growing in our church garden, variety of plants, insects or birds.

Construction zone
Children can explore here the variety of construction resources, which promote their critical thinking, making links or noticing patterns.

Active learning
In this area children actively learn specific subject like Math. There is a visual display, as well as hands on activities to develop children’s mathematical thinking and understanding, either it is subitising 1-5, 3D shapes, number lines 1-20 or learning about numeral value.

This is our cosy reading corner where children can sit down with books, Both fiction and nonfiction in a relaxing atmosphere. We encourage children to borrow books from preschool, using our book bags, and discuss with them which characters did they like, what was the best part of the story or what new facts they have learned.

Imaginative play
Children enjoy playing with our diversity figures in a three storied doll house, communicate with each other while role-playing, developing their imaginary play and representing what they know about everyday life, but at the same time they learn about diversity.
